Human Services and Health

Human suffering takes many forms and affects people from all walks of life. Problems like poverty, trauma, homelessness, illness, and addiction leave lives disrupted and human potential lost. That’s why the Foundation supports programs to alleviate human suffering and give people a fair shot at creating their own success. We also know that effectiveness requires a balance between meeting the emergency needs of those in crisis and supporting long-term solutions that lead to stability and self-reliance.

The Foundation directs the bulk of its human services and health related grants to organizations serving the Bay Area. Our primary investment is with the Tipping Point Community which identifies Bay Area non-profits most effective at helping families and individuals break the cycle of poverty.

The Foundation also invests directly in local non-profits on a case-by-case basis. Rather than focus on one specific type of program, we seek those organizations with strong leadership and a compelling track record of transforming lives.

To learn more, see the list of the Organizations We Support and Guidelines.  The Foundation does not accept unsolicited grant applications, grant proposals or letters of inquiry.
