Emily Merrill is the Charles and Helen Schwab Foundation’s Senior Program Officer for Education. Prior to joining CHSF, Emily advised some of the most impactful philanthropists, political and nonprofit organizations in the education reform sector. Her clients have included Success Academy Charter Schools, Democrats for Education Reform, Bellwether Education Partners, the Walton Family Foundation, the Edythe and Eli Broad Foundation, the Bay Education Fund, and the Build Black Better PAC. Emily also spent over a decade as a political advisor to Doris Fisher and the Chief Program Officer of the Doris & Donald Fisher Fund. Before her work for the Fisher family, Emily was the Chief of Staff to then New York City Council Member Eva Moskowitz, chair of the City Council’s Education Committee.

Emily received an A.B. from Stanford University and a Master’s degree from the Stanford University School of Education. Emily lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and their three school-aged sons.
